      That’s an interesting question. 🙂
      So a vegetarian is someone who does not eat any meat or fish, and as humans we get our energy from eating.
      Bacteria get their energy in many different ways.
      Some bacteria are photosynthetic (sort of like plants) which means they can make energy from sunlight- e.g purple photosynthetic bacteria. So I think we can think of these bacteria as vegetarian.

      Other bacteria get their energy from different chemicals, in the lab we give them the range of chemicals they need to grow, by mixing them all up in a jug and adding water to the mixture.
