      Yes, in fact there is. Actually all the stars we can see in the sky have a number.
      The International Astronomical Union is the organisation responsible for giving the stars their nubmers or names.

      Some of the very old and well known stars have a number and a names. For example, the closest star to us after the sun is called Proxima Centauri or V645 Centauri and it’s only about 25 trillion miles away …. 😛
