That’s a very good question. Indeed it’s impressive that Google can provide an answer to almost any search query in a fraction of a second.

Although it might have you fooled, Google doesn’t know anything; it is not capable of understanding. All it can do is provide you with a selection of webpages that best match the keywords you entered in your search. That’s why it sometimes has a hard time giving you answers, especially if the information you need is context specific.

      Hi,

As Andrei mentioned, Google doesn’t actually know anything! It is just very very very good at finding the answers. This is why we call Google a “Search Engine”, because it can search the internet for the answer to your question.

I think what’s cool about google is that is shows us just how many clever people there are in the world, and how happy they are to share this knowledge with us and make it readily available.

What is available on the internet ultimately comes down to people creating websites and uploading the information. As the others said, Google itself actually just looks for the key words on that website and presents them to you.

But thank goodness for google, it’s so useful!
