• Question: How do people know that the earth will explode in so many days

      Hiya,

      Luckily, we know that the Earth won’t ever explode, mainly because it is made of rock, when all its energy from the core gets used up the planet will basically just die.

      But before that happens our Sun will probably explode and destroy everything. An explosion of a star is one of the most violent events in the universe. We know they happen because scientists have managed to see them happen to other stars far far away.

      By doing experiments and calculations on how the sun uses its energy now, we can work out that in about 5 billion years it will have used up all its energy and will probably explode in one of these cataclysmic explosions.

      When this happens, nothing in our solar system will survive, not even the farthest planets.

      Luckily for us, 5 billion years is a looong long time away!
