I’ve only felt one very small earthquake that actually happened in England about 6 years ago. But I haven’t felt any large ones.
But people in places like Japan feel them all the time. In fact there are lots of videos of earthquakes on YouTube. Here’s a good one showing people videoing the Japan earthquake shaking and tsunami on their cameras: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLsQ8cvt1OE
Hi, I’ve actually experienced one live whilst I was in high school… I think it was about 5 or 5.1 in magnitude on the Richter scale. Luckily it was late at night and I was sleeping so all I remember was a bit of shaking and the windows banging like after a massive thunder outside 🙂
Sadly they can be very bad indeed. But my work as a scientist is all about how we can live with earthquakes. It is impossible to stop them, but we can live with them without dying.
