      After we die there is no way oxygen and other nutrients can get to our cells, so they will stop functioning immediately.

      There are loads of stories about dead bodies whose hair and nails have grown … Arrghh scary things! I’m afraid they are just stories. What actually happens is that after we die, our body starts to dehydrate and that causes the skin underneath our fingers to retract which gives the impression that the nails have grown.
